Melt my heart

Sarah: Hey, Juma, Grandma wants to know what you want for Christmas. So think about it, ok?

Juma: I don't know what I want. I don't want anything. I have everything I want right here (hugs me).

Johannesburg, day 4: Lion Park

Johannesburg, Day 3: ropes course

Johannesburg, Day 2: Soweto tour

At the "Welcome to Soweto" sign. This is where most of the anti-apartheid action took place.
At the Freedom Charter, written by the anti-apartheid gurus such as Mandela.
The house Mandela and his family lived in in Soweto, before his jail time.  His family got shot at by snipers.  Regularly.
The World Cup stadium, designed to look like a calabash of traditional sorghum beer.

My AIDS 2012 poster

This is my first "real" poster presentation at an academic conference, and the first output from my dissertation research.

Another week in rural Mufindi

Justin had a bunch of work to do south of us, so we stayed at a couple lodges 1 and 2 hours south and west of home. While Justin was off working, Juma and I had a wee vacation.

It was Juma's 5th time on a horse, and he trotted!

News article on Iringa

This is what Justin and I do! The reporter interviewed me for the article, but I guess I didn't give him any juicy quotes.

Flights

We have been busy with meetings and errands in Dar es Salaam. Justin just spent 4 nights there, and arrived back in Iringa by plane this morning. Now I'm waiting in the airport departure lounge (see the picture--this is a tiny airport) to head to Dar for 5 or 6 days for more meetings.

After I get back, we might have a few days together before Justin heads out once again. Then l'll go again after he gets back.

This is a crazy month!
